NUT REPORT WEEK 2
Well this podcast already proved out to be completely wrong. Apologies for the tiers being dramatically off. Since recording, Brandon has gone from Tier 3 to Tier 1 by sheer points alone. I told you all it was early. We’ll get more concrete facts next week as we add another data point to the equation.
Until then, enjoy the NEW tiers and all the other information you love.

NUT REPORT WEEK 1
Let’s go boys! Week 1 is in the books and the DVFFL content machine is firing up again. I’m very pleased to give you all the latest NUT REPORT for I believe our 7th year straight of it. And, of course, a Podly Weekly to accompany it. Think of the NUT REPORT as your steak and the Podly as your potatoes.
It took everything in me to not ramble on for over an hour. But I kept it short and sweet and to the point for 30 mins. If you’re interested in exploring more of my episodes metaphor, here is the link to the book.
Alright no more typing.
WEEK 1 NUT REPORT
HISTORICAL STATS
2021 Draft Grades
The fun is over. Now the work begins.
After an off-season of speculation, expectations and nerves, came one of the most anticipated drafts the DVFFL has ever had in it’s 11 years. This draft brings on a new precedent – the trading of draft dollars. This draft changed the landscape for every single team. Gone are the days of all of us starting from the same start line. This point was emphasized by $108 dollar gap between the highest starting budgets (240) and the lowest starting budgets (132).
Some things to keep in mind when looking at these grades:
The average budget for the league was $189.
The average budget for playoffs teams was $171.
The average budget for non-playoff teams was $215. ($227 if you remove Dyl).
It is impossible for me to go pick by pick and tell if it was a value or not. However, the baseline assumption is, the bigger the budget the better the draft grade.
The grades:
1. Kaden - A+ (100% chance of playoffs) Budget: $240
2. Mitch - A (84% chance of playoffs) Budget: $231
3. Gare* - A (81% chance of playoffs) Budget: $205
4. Jadon* - A (79% chance of playoffs) Budget: $194
5. Cody - A (79% chance of playoffs) Budget $240
6. Christian - A (76% chance of playoffs) Budget $226
7. Brandon - A- (68% chance of playoffs) Budget $202
8. Jesse* - B+ (65% chance of playoffs) Budget $200
9. Zach* - B (43% chance of playoffs) Budget $168
10. Kory* - B- (34% chance of playoffs) Budget $168
11. Brian* - C+ (26% chance of playoffs) Budget $132
12. Cal* - C (16% chance of playoffs) Budget $164
13. Dylan - C (12% chance of playoffs) Budget $148
14. Peyton* - C (12% chance of playoffs) Budget $138
*denotes 2020 playoff team.
**The percentage chance of playoffs is assuming an average level of team management. Those percentages will be higher with timely waivers, good trades and correct lineup decisions. However, with this league, you can’t always assume that consistently happens.
So can we trust these grades? Last year, 6 of the 8 teams listed in the top 8 made the playoffs. With the top two teams, Kory and Jesse, being the two teams that made the finals.
But let me explain further:
2021 Keeper Preview [Part 2]
#8 Garrett (7-6) $207
2020 In A Nutshell: Normal. Gare did Gare things. He made the playoffs. Was scary in the late part of the season. Swindled a trade or two and still ended up with $7 extra dollars for the draft. He has the 2nd most money of the top 8 teams. He didn’t win, but making it without having to sell the farm like Dylan is something to be proud of.
Roster / 2021 Keeper Price:
Big Ben $4
Chubb $120
Jacobs $116
McLaurin $38
Higgins $2
Kelce $80
Mar. Brown $34
Tucker $4
Seahawks $10 (FA)
Brees RET
Burrow $2
Wilkins $10
Shepard $16
Gage $2
Kmet $10 (FA)
Dolphins $10 (FA)
Garrett’s Big Decisions:
McLaurin $38
Higgins $2
Burrow $2
There are two Bengals in the grass for Garrett for this one. Burrow is in an amazing price range for long term keeper value. Especially if he matches his performance when he was at his best. That factor alone makes any cheap QB right now more valuable than the number associated with it. If kept, it becomes a prominent trade talking point that this QB is only going to cost $2 this year, $4 in 2022, $8 in 2023. You would never really pay his full price until 2025 when he reaches $32. Higgins is also an intriguing add. Best case he’s the new AJ Green there. Worst case he’s Auden Tate. Then there is Scary Terry. He is affordable, top 10 WR potential without the price. Gare could go for value this year or just hope Terry gets cheaper in the auction. Narrator: he won’t.
Final Verdict: Keep Burrow
#7 Zach (7-6) $178
2020 In A Nutshell: 2020 wasn’t the championship defense I envisioned. However, it was entertaining. Nothing like having Booker and or my personal favorite, DeAndre Washington, holding down the ones and twos of my RB spots. We did learn that Adams can carry a team to the playoffs. And that he did. All season, I was tortured by the fact that my team was comically flawed, but with historical streaks on the line, I had to make some investments. Enter McKissic and Wilson. If I had known Chubb was available for 8 dollars I would have kept rolling out Carson Wentz.
Roster / 2021 Keeper Price:
Wilson $40
McKissic $10 (FA)
Moss $34
Hopkins $70
Adams $104
Goedert $2
Patrick $10 (FA)
Sanders $10 (FA)
Bucs $2
Booker $10 (FA)
Penny $10 (FA)
Dillon $6
Slayton $6
Mims $10 (FA)
Boyd $10
Herbert $10 (FA)
Zach’s Big Decisions:
Dillon $6
Boyd $10
Goedert $2
Bucs $2
When week 17 ended, and I thought I had stacked my bench with enough talent, I had hoped that some of these players' situations would improve. They did not. Especially Thighmaster. If Aaron Jones had left, I would be walking into at least an RB2 for $6 and there wouldn’t be any other choice. Now that can still be the case. I have a love affair for big bruisers, and keeping the heaviest RB in the entire NFL fits that mold. The reasonable thing would be taking a shot on Goedert, and hope he becomes at least top 6. He has the talent. But Ertz needs to be banished. And then there is Boyd. Another sound move, but with a slightly lower budget than most of the league, I would need to be assured that Boyd can keep his WR2 role.
EDIT: -6 draft dollars after Herbert trade.
Final Verdict: Keep Herbert
#6 Cal (8-5) $174
2020 In A Nutshell: Cal’s team was one of the worst 8-5 teams to ever grace the DVFFL. An early season winning streak created this false bubble around this team. And it was comically reinforced with Cal making draft cash investments in: Elliott, Julio, and then dumping Elliott. Cal was active, he made side bets, he invested in players, and he was swiftly beaten in the first round. Now Cal has to make his dollars stretch and win a few bets along the way.
Roster / 2021 Keeper Price:
Brady $2
Sanders $108
Hunt $32
Ant. Brown $10 (FA)
Woods $42
Gronk $12
Landry $22
Carlson $10 (FA)
Ravens $4
Goff $2
Mostert $46
Ingram $58
Golladay $72
Gallup $26
Ju. Jones $96
Schultz $10 (FA)
Cal’s Big Decisions:
Brady $2
Goff $2
Because of Cal’s financial situation, I can only see him keeping one of his two QBs. He has value in both, and to be honest I think it’s pretty clear which one Cal will pick. He has some interesting value picks in Landry, Gallup and in some respects, Gronk. But none of those three players are worth that much of an investment by a team who is nearly $60 down from top budget teams.
EDIT: Due to my own miscalculation of the CEH bet. Cal has $10 more than initially written about. This change has been reflected in all other money docs. It however, does not change my final keeper verdict for Cal.
Final Verdict: Keep Brady
#5 Jadon (8-5) $200
2020 In A Nutshell: Jadon took a Peyton approach to trading this year. Not making a single one. Jadon successfully waited on the right players who blossomed for him right when he needed the extra punch. Looking at his playoff performance, Jadon suffered the curse of an awful round 1, and then two strong performances after his team was knocked out. With his current draft cash situation, and the players on his team, he was one of the most attractive future outlooks going into the 2021 season.
Roster / 2021 Keeper Price
Mahomes $72
Montgomery $32
McKinnon $2
Jefferson $6
Evans $70
Kittle $68
Cooks $18
Crosby $2
Steelers $6
Gurley $58
Akers $38
Beasley $2
C. Samuel $2
D. Samuel $18
L. Thomas $10 (FA)
Irv. Smith $10 (FA)
Jadon’s Big Decisions:
Jefferson $6
There is no point to even set up an argument for any other player than Jefferson. Jadon has a dynasty keeper on his hands. A WR1 for $6 dollars. This is one of few lock-it-in picks of the entire league. If Jadon chooses not to keep Jefferson, he will be forced to take the same cognitive test that Trump keeps talking about. Woman. Camera. TV. Jefferson.
Final Verdict: Keep Jefferson
#4 Brian (10-3) $162
2020 In A Nutshell: Brian is like the Knicks. When his team is winning, the league is a lot more fun. However, we aren’t always graced by winning seasons or decisions. Brian had a fantastic 2020. His playoff run was arguably one of the most entertaining runs the league has ever seen. I personally, will never forget the Lamar Jackson Poop Game against the Browns. And I imagine, Gare won’t either. He spent like a contender, he had the best record in the league and you could tell that Brian had confidence in himself that he could draft well next year in the hopes of winning the chip this year. If Brian can help himself to not overspend on every rookie RB this year, I’m confident he can pull together another entertaining team. But seriously, a quarter of his budget was spent on Gibson, Moss and Dobbins last year.
Roster / 2021 Keeper Price:
L. Jackson $60
Bowden $10 (FA)
Fournette $26
Hill $98
Tyron. Johnson $10 (FA)
Tonyan $10 (FA)
Metcalf $30
Slye $10 (FA)
Browns $10 (FA)
Barber $10 (FA)
R. Jones $20
Michel $8
M. Williams $4
Ruggs $8
Cephus $10 (FA)
Hockenson $4
Mixon $116
Brian’s Big Decisions:
Jones $20
M. Williams $4
Ruggs $8
Hockenson $4
Brian like Christian, has some really tough choices in front of him. He has masterfully collected several intriguing players for market low prices. And the one thing that will haunt him with his budget is if he made the right budget deal. Jones for $20 is a damn good steal. But the price is too steep for Brian. Ruggs was sold multiple times throughout the year as a choice keeper. I think he sucks. Which leaves Williams and Hockenson. Williams for $4 with Herbert throwing is criminally low. However, Williams is the only player that will start 16 games in a season, but only finish in 6 of them. I think Hockenson is too good of a deal, too steady of a player, and in a position that just sucks to suck at.
Final Verdict: Keep Hockenson
#3 Peyton (9-4) $152
2020 In A Nutshell: Peyton was a buzzsaw all season. He looked at times completely unstoppable. And made the correct moves at the end of the season to shore up his team. Interestingly enough, making deals with other playoff contenders to solidify his position at the top. Unfortunately, that very team he made a deal with soundly beat him in the 2nd round and now Peyton has to draft with the least amount of cash in the entire league. I certainly believe the risk was worth it. But now the real challenge begins.
Roster / 2021 Keeper Price:
Watson $36
Cook $128
Ekeler $112
K. Allen $36
Robinson $48
Waller $30
Swift $14
Lutz $2
Chiefs $10 (FA)
Trubisky $10 (FA)
Lindsey $20
Cooper $58
Reynolds $10 (FA)
C. Sims $10 (FA)
Hooper $2
Cowboys $2
Peyton’s Big Decisions:
Swift $14
Lutz $2
Hooper $2
Peyton is in a real pickle here. We all know he deeply loves Swift. It was one of the main reasons why Swift was never a tradable asset, since Peyton had him pegged as his keeper. However, $14 for a player who will be splitting time with the RB vulture, Jamaal Williams, is not the RB2/RB1 investment that Swift was looking like at the start of the offseason. Peyton could go another route and lock up a top 10 kicker. But to be honest, I think Peyton eats the price and keeps Swift. In the grand scheme, it may not cost that much, but Peyton will have to fill out 15 other positions with just $138.
Final Verdict: Keep Swift
#2 Jesse (7-6) $204
2020 In A Nutshell: Jesse was my clear favorite to win the whole thing last year. And he almost did. The combo of Allen and Henry was more than enough to knockout any team he faced. Coupled that with some wildcard performers like Gordon and Hilton and Jesse looked like he found the ideal balance. On top of all that, he was able to grab additional draft cash before the playoffs. Making a big risk that paid off with a Finals appearance and some extra bucks. With a solid draft, Jesse is set to be the odds-on-favorite to start the season. All because of one keeper: Josh Allen.
Roster / 2021 Keeper Price:
Allen $4!!!!!!!!
Henry $122
Gordon $38
Hilton $42
Moore $48
Gesicki $2
Lazard $6
Gay $10 (FA)
Bears $2
Rivers RET
Peterson $10 (FA)
Bourne $10 (FA)
Hamler $10 (FA)
Higbee $18
Gostkowski $2
Pats $4
M. Thomas $112
Jesse’s Big Decisions:
Allen $4
I’m not going to even write like there is any other option. Like Jadon, Jesse has a dynasty keeper here. If he chooses anyone else, I volunteer to trade everything my team has to get him.
EDIT: Draft cash total has changed. Does not change my final verdict.
Final Verdict: Keep Allen
#1 Kory (7-6) $194
2020 In A Nutshell: Your 2020 champion. Kory masterfully won game-after-game, even without CMC for the majority of the year. I started the season saying this was a fluke, but by the end, Kory led the league in scoring and became a champion after his third Finals appearance. Kory only made one mistake that would make this position even sweeter. The Hines trade. Kory sent $8 bucks off to Brandon for Hines. Hines played a minor role in the whole scheme of things. If there were a do-over, keeping that $8 would be nice to help almost completely offset the price of Kory’s more obvious keeper: Herbert.
Roster / 2021 Keeper Price:
Herbert $10 (FA)
A. Jones $90
M. Davis $2
S. Diggs $26
C. Davis $10 (FA)
J Cook $4
Smith-Schuster $48
Bass $10 (FA)
Texans $10 (FA)
J. Williams $4
Gallman $10 (FA)
Hines $4
J. Meyers $10 (FA)
Shanault $10 (FA)
G. Davis $10 (FA)
Mooney $10 (FA)
H. Henry $6
Kory’s Big Decisions:
Davis $2
Williams $4
Henry $6
Diggs $26
The final team on this list is actually one of the most fascinating situations in the entire league. Kory has to make a choice here. He could go for longevity, make a midlevel deal to keep Herbert at a reasonable price for the next two seasons or Kory goes for an aggressive defense of his championship. He has two RBs on his team that are in 1B situations. By themselves, they aren’t championship winners, but it could give Kory the flexibility to make his dollars stretch, drafting two quality pieces to pair with either of his budget options. He also could go all-in and keep Diggs at a super cheap deal and then try to sell to other teams in need of more intriguing keepers his remaining options. Regardless of whatever path Kory chooses to take, he should be the most active seller to the league. If he can move one or two of these guys and get back to the black with his draft cash. Kory, like Jesse, could stand out as an early 2021 favorite.
EDIT: +6 draft dollars after Herbert trade.
EDIT: +3 draft dollars after M. Davis trade.
Final Verdict: Keep Diggs
That’s going to wrap up this year’s team preview. All keeper decisions will be made the day before the draft. Maybe there is some event? Who knows? The league will also be renewed by the weekend.
Thank you for reading.
Notes:
As a reminder, we are all allowed one keeper. The prices displayed on every team’s roster are the correct price to keep for this year. Players keeper prices double each year they are kept. All players who weren’t kept will have their price reset and determined by the draft. Again if the player is a FA they start at a base of $10. If they are not currently on a team, but were drafted in 2020, their 2020 draft price still remains. Trades are open.

Pst. DVFFL. It’s time.
It’s time to wake up!
Draft season is here boys! We’re less than 2 months away from Cal emptying his wallet for three overpriced players. Less than 9 weeks away from Kory asking us the night of the draft if we like his team. Less than 10 Sundays from Brian saying “fuck it” and overspending on four rookie running backs.
It’s almost here.
But first, there is a potentially season-defining decision to be made before the draft. Keepers. Make the right call, and you’ve got a cheap option for years to come. Make the wrong call, and well, you just wasted extra draft dollars. It’s time to reveal the true intention of this article. I’m going to profile every team in the DVFFL and help identify the keeper options that are on the table for that team. Additionally, I will show the keeper price of that team’s roster. Hopefully giving you a better idea of what your leaguemates could be thinking.
Sound like a plan?
Good.
Now, let’s get started.
#14 Cody (4-9) $250
2020 In A Nutshell: The international man of few mysteries. Cody led the charge on tanking. Unceremoniously ending his championship run Week 10 of the 2020 season. With his new shifted view, Cody has seemingly collected a lion share of young talent. Something even Brian would be jealous of. However, Cody is under a lot of pressure. He gave up on the season and won the Sacko all for this exact moment. He has the max amount of cash and the most to lose.
Roster / 2021 Keeper Price:
Hurts $10 (FA)
Bell $52
Bernard $2
Claypool $10 (FA)
Lamb $20
Akins $10 (FA)
Gibson $30
Koo $2
Football team $10 (FA)
Edmunds $8
L. Perine $10
Watkins $6
Cole $10 (FA)
Jeudy $12
Green $10 (FA)
Cardinals $10 (FA)
J. Robinson $10 (FA)
Cody’s Big Decisions:
Gibson $30
Lamb $20
Hurts $10
Claypool $10
Jeudy $12
Cody has a lot of options here. Ask me week 16 who his keeper would be, and I would unanimously say James Robinson. However, life comes quickly and luckily Cody has other options. What he has to do is weigh the long term value he has on these players. If he lets some of these guys go, their value will never be this cheap again. If I were Cody, I would keep Gibson. You’ve tanked to get this much money, you can get a guy for 10-20 dollars under market value, and still have more money than 80% of the league. Stretching his budget on solid WR2 options like Jeudy, Claypool or Lamb is just in his current budget’s best interest. If he does make that investment, he should be signing up for at least another year of these WR. Because I believe their true value won’t come up this year, but in 2022.
Verdict: Keep Gibson
#13 Brandon (3-10) $212
2020 In A Nutshell: So 2019 was an aberration. Because this is the Brandon the DVFFL knows and loves. His team was just bad from the start. He did make some minor moves to bounce his total draft cash up near the end of the season. But I think if Brandon is being honest, he didn’t get a Cody like haul because all of Brandon’s players sucked and no one was willing to spend big money on the likes of: Ebron. Gore. Sanders (not miles). Renfrow. The man non-ironically was starting Bridgewater. It’s time for an ANUSTART.
Roster / 2021 Keeper Price:
Bridgewater $10 (FA)
Gaskin $10 (FA)
Gore $2
E. Sanders $8
Thielan $64
E. Ebron $2
Anderson $6
Bailey $10 (FA)
Giants $10 (FA)
Ballage $10 (FA)
Edwards-Helaire $122 (LOL)
H. Higgins $10 (FA)
T. Smith $2
Renfrow $10 (FA)
Fulgham $10 (FA)
Bengals $10 (FA)
J. Brown $8
Brandon’s Big Decisions:
Gaskin $10
Anderson $6
T. Smith $2
I didn’t think we’d already be at that point where maybe the best advice is to not keep at all, but here we are. On paper the assets are CEH and Thielan. But even Cody can’t afford to keep CEH for $122. It’s in the best interest of the league to let that price reset itself. Leaving Brandon with only one logical option: keeping Robby Anderson. The situation for CAR has improved with no Samuel and the arrival of Darnold. The price is only a mere $6. It doesn’t matter if Anderson regresses to a high-end WR3, that’s still incredible value. It’s just up to Brandon to fill out the rest of his team. Which I’m not going to hold my breath on.
Final Verdict: Keep Anderson.
#12 Christian (6-7) $230
2020 In A Nutshell: Pretty terrible. I don’t think Christian would disagree with that statement at all. He went from almost making the playoffs to finishing right above Brandon. Thankfully, Christian was able to absorb some cash before he plummeted into the Earth. Thanks in large part to the Cal Zeke trade and the Peyton Keenen trade. Christian may not have the luck of the fantasy gods in-season, but he is the first team on this list that is semi-competent at drafting. So the extra $24 could go a long way.
Roster / 2021 Keeper Price:
Rodgers $6
Henderson $4
Pollard $12
Chark $42
Hardman $6
Andrews $46
Dio. Johnson $10
Butker $4
Bills $4
Mayfield $10 (FA)
Hyde $2
Mal. Brown $2
Elliott $146
Parker $10
Pittman $6
Packers $10 (FA)
Christian’s Big Decisions:
Hardman $6
Rodgers $6
Dio. Johnson $10
Parker $10
Pittman $6
Pollard $12
Damn. Christian understands the assignment. Look at these values. If anything, Christian is going to be tortured by multiple decisions, but honestly, he’s set himself up here that he really shouldn’t feel bad about any of them. Hell, I could even understand grabbing Rodgers, the MVP, for $6. You know he’ll be going for more (depending on his Packers situation). Pollard also has a solid case, $12 is a tad rich for a handcuff, but we know he can ball, and if Christian is looking long term, he can keep Pollard, if he is the future, for $24 next year, and $48 the year after that. That’s not bad for 3 years of service.
But in the current landscape, I see him nabbing Pittman. He’s the greatest unknown, yet highest upside. Johnson is a close second, but we don’t know how much the Steelers are going to suffer behind Ben this year. Pittman has the chance to emerge as the number 1 with a new QB and Christian can keep that value for years to come. Even if Pittman becomes nothing more than DJ Chark type, that’s still good value.
EDIT: +6 from Rodgers trade
Final Verdict: Keep Pittman.
#11 Mitch (4-9) $237
2020 In A Nutshell: Par for the course. Mitch has just one signature winning season under his belt, this year was much of the same for the green goblin. He smartly capitalized on teams in win-now mode, and ended up fetching $43 extra draft dollars. But like Brandon and Cody, isn’t exactly a scary drafter. Maybe with the extra buffer, that can inspire savvier risks rather than dropping $21 on TY Hilton.
Roster / 2021 Keeper Price:
Tannehill $10 (FA)
Conner $88
Dobbins $30
Agholor $10 (FA)
Godwin $68
Ertz $40
Hanson $10 (FA)
Myers $10 (FA)
Panthers $10 (FA)
White $16
Coleman $6
Duke. Johnson $8
Harris $8
Snell $6
Kirk $12
J. Smith $2
Mitch’s Big Decisions:
Tannehill $10
Dobbins $30
Harris $8
Smith $2
First of all. None of us drafted Tannehill? What? Tua and Minshew were drafted by Mitch. And not Tannehill? Now, his value would be higher if he had been grabbed for a dollar. But for $10 you get a QB who is throwing to two of the most electric WRs in Julio and AJ Brown, it’s not a bad tradeoff. Mitch also has the money to make a big money keeper in Dobbins, who is going to be leading that backfield this year. This is the last year of affordability for him, so that could be a win now move. Harris is the wise pick. He’s cheap. He’s starting. He’s good. However, he’s on NE. Investing in NE backs doesn’t pay off. But you know what does? Investing in NE TE. And Smith could be the guy. It’s a position of scarcity. A $2 shot to find out if you have a top 6 TE is pretty worth it. However, RB’s are just too hard to pass up.
-6 from Rodgers trade.
Final Verdict: Keep Rodgers
#10 Kaden (5-8) $250
2020 In A Nutshell: Brotherly love. Kaden’s mediocre season was bailed out by a late trade deadline deal that gifted him $44 for trading away a package including Kyler Murray. Again, Cody gave away Chubb to Gare for $8. Kyler and pieces were $44. This. Market. Makes. No. Sense. As for the season, Kaden had a fairly complete team with one RB sized hole. His solution? He got David Johnson and sold off the rest of the team for parts. His reward for this bold vision? 10th. And $250 draft dollars.
Roster / 2021 Keeper Price:
Tua $2
Drake $86
Taylor $68
Lockett $60
Aiyuk $4
Engram $22
Du. Johnson $8
Blankenship $10 (FA)
Colts $2
Ryan $4
G. Edwards $10 (FA)
Ty. Johnson $10 (FA)
Mar. Jones $14
Crowder $14
Reager $2
Hurst $6
Kaden’s Big Decisions:
Tua $2
Aiyuk $4
Edwards $10
Reager $2
Kaden has the cash to make a big move and keep Taylor. But is Taylor actually worth that value? I would firmly say no. Where I think Kaden could make a splash is keeping the Gus Bus. He’s second in command behind Dobbins. Clearly is liked. And could operate as Kaden’s 4th RB, giving him a safety blanket and extra cash to nab some bigger names. Reager I’m sure will get some looks. I think he sucks. Aiyuk is also very fun, and is worth the shot just to see – especially if Lance takes over.
Final Verdict: Keep Aiyuk.
#9 Dylan (6-7) $150
2020 In A Nutshell: Spain without the “s.” Dylan went all in as a championship contender whose team was .500 for most of the season and was mediocre at best. So when his team didn’t make the playoffs, it only surprised one person in the entire league: Dylan. Dylan did do one thing in 2020 that had a lasting effect on the league. He was able to identify really good talent for stupid low draft prices. For example, the total cost of: Aiyuk, J. Smith, Geodert, Stafford, Harris AND Mack combined is $34 dollars. Six players and using their 2021 keeper price, and they only cost $34 dollars! That’s a bundle of values. And he’s going to need to do it again for this draft if he wants to have a chance.
Roster / 2021 Keeper Price:
Murray $40
Kamara $108
Carson $84
Ridley $54
Kupp $60
Fant $6
AJ Brown $52
Zuerlein $4
Chargers $2
L. Murray $20
J. Wilson $10 (FA)
Mattison $8
Singletary $24
Ahmed $10 (FA)
Coutee $10 (FA)
Saints $2
Dylan’s Big Decisions:
Fant $6
Chargers $2
Saints $2
Dylan legit can’t afford to overspend on anyone this year. If he really believes in Fant, getting him for $6 could preserve his long term value for Dylan on the team. And knowing that fact, Dylan could use that as trade piece. Selling to teams that need a TE, and giving them one that they can keep next year. For other teams, having $6 for an uncertain TE1 isn’t a big deal. But for Dylan, $6 represents 4% of his budget. He also could just eat it a little and pick a D/ST. It’s two dollars, but at least he knows he can get a top 10 option. But let’s be honest, Dylan isn’t keeping this year.
EDIT: -3 from M. Davis trade
